Responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor/trailer to deliver finished product to customers in accordance with state and FEDERAL LAW.
Safety & Compliance
Complies with Driver responsibilities as outlined in company DAART program as required by DOT
Maintain vehicle in accordance to Welch Packaging Transportation management policy
2. Service and Asset Management
Operate vehicle in a safe and efficient manner complying with company policy and procedures and applicable state and federal laws
Support on-time delivery by transporting loads by established route to proper destination as efficient as possible while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations
Inspect trailer loads to ensure proper loading processes and it is the correct load before leaving the facility
Verify product count while truck is being loaded
Comply with obtaining correct acknowledgement or signature and date for bill of lading and necessary signatures and date; return properly completed documentation to Shipping Supervisor/Manager
Comply with performance measures

Ability to read and write English. Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and working with fractions

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
On the road the employee may encounter traffic or other hazardous driving conditions.
