Create and develop new designs and techniques utilizing temporary materials. Design and prototype structurally sound solutions for the point of purchase display and merchandising industry to conform to client and retail project objectives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities described are the essential functions of the job.
•Assesses information provided by the Client, and Sales to translate project objectives into customer brand design solutions, considering visual and structural integrity, cost effective manufacture capabilities and ease of assembly. •Ideation /concept development skills for existing and new client’s prototype development programs. •Work collaboratively with Design Managers, Sales, Graphic Designers and other Team Members to develop client programs. •Have a working knowledge of printing processes and an understanding of general shipping and packaging requirements. •Working knowledge of Artios or similar CAD software and a CAD Cutting Table to design / develop solutions with a basic knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite. Co-op or student internship experience using design software and a CAD Table is beneficial. •Develop Bill of Materials, POGs, Specifications, Palletization and ship testing requirements. •Responsible for project development file recording and updating, file naming/part numbering utilizing the corporate project management system. •Utilize retail environment guidelines, specifications and awareness in the design process. •Perform required technical tasks as required, quick sketches, CAD visualization, planograms, retail assembly / plant assembly instructions, digital photography, and illustrator or Photoshop requirements. •Communicate development process to Account Executive, Design Manager •Enhancements or revisions as required to existing concepts or designs if requested by the client, sales or design manager. •Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The qualifications below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. • Degree related to the packaging design industry is required •Must have a working knowledge of Artios or similar CAD Software and a CAD Cutting Table. Co-op or student internship experience using design software and a CAD table is beneficial. •Must have basic knowledge of prepress production and manufacturing processes and capabilities •Must have excellent communication skills, •A understanding of design principles and development knowledge of creating retail display environments for specific clients. •Sketching and visualizing skills •Meets commitments, works independently or in teams, accepts ownership or projects, takes personal responsibility and sets objectives. •Capable of multi-tasking and managing multiple priorities, stays focused under pressure. •Think creatively to produce innovative ideas to meet the constraints of cost, time and retail and client requirements. •Some knowledge of packaging product transit testing.
Candidates are PREFERRED who offer the following • Working knowledge of Artios or similar CAD Software and a CAD Cutting Table. • Co-op or student internship experience using design software and a CAD Table.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and sit and stand. Employee will also regularly be required to walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employee must be able to use hands to handle knife for cutting. Employee is also required to lift, reach and pull up to 50 lbs. when moving board sheets into racks. Employee must be able to physically operate a cutting table for packaging samples.
Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. Employee will also be exposed to mechanical parts on cutting table.
